This blog provides insight, information, and innovation in teaching students with special needs in the primary years (K-2). The areas of autism and technology are emphasized. Much of what serves as best practice for students with special needs is also excellent practice for students in general. Therefore, all individuals who are interested in K-2 teaching-related information and experiences are welcome.

I've given out candy for educational games, but not for good behavior. I've worked with teachers who have let kids accumulate points and then used them to have a party a few times a year, but I think something more immediate (and non-food related) would probably be more successful.
Thanks for your insight, Theresa. You raise a good point- there is a difference between using food as part of a lesson and using it as a reward in itself.
